Summer is right around the corner and there's no better way to celebrate the summer than by hosting a party at your local beach or rooftop. If you're going to plan a fun summer event with your closest friends and family, then be sure to consider the following tips, whether you're planning on heading out to the Hamptons, or a cool NYC/Brooklyn Rooftop.
Preparing for a Beach or Rooftop Party
With proper preparation, your summer soiree will be the talk of the town. First, find a great rooftop venue or beach area to reserve. You may need to give a deposit and request a permit for certain activities such as building a bonfire. Did your friend just move to a new building? They may have an awesome rooftop space for rent and usually guests are allowed to reserve it as long as the tenant is present at the party. When looking at a beach, pay attention to rules concerning alcohol, bonfires, late night parties, and more.
If you find a beach without existing cooking facilities, no worries! Big Dawg Party Rentals can arrange to have grills and other kitchen accessories brought on-site. It may be necessary to bring in a portable restroom too. Once you've found a location, invite your guests. A creative invitation will set the tone and start the anticipation for this fun event. Evite offers great templates and sends playful reminders on your social media pages the week before.
What to Bring to a Beach or Rooftop Party
Tell your guests to bring their own towels and swimsuits! You’ll provide everything else. Check for adequate seating and add furniture for a casual lounge vibe. Bring in some foldable tables accented with brightly colored geometric linens. We love the Nantucket Plaid in navy/white to give that nautical vibe. Or a rustic farm table with a check print runner in Red/White may better fit the décor, depending on the menu. The warm weather is ideal for tank tops and shorts but not so ideal for food and drinks. Enter coolers – they work great to keep food safe and the beverages ice cold. Too much sun can be uncomfortable for your guests so provide some umbrellas or tented area for shade where you'll be serving and eating.
Enamel plates are a new trend that works well for cookouts or traditional plastic dinnerware and silverware will do the job. Don’t forget plenty of napkins! Your favorite band may not be available, so bring your Bluetooth speaker and playlist so you can play some tunes and dance the night away!
Planning for Beach or Rooftop Party Activities
Besides making sure that you're properly prepared and that you have everything you need, you might want to line up some activities that everyone can participate in. The good thing about hanging out at the beach or rooftop is that at the very least, everyone can have a great view while socializing under the sun. If your party extends to night hours, just add some string lights and keep it going. If there's a volleyball court nearby, bring a volleyball as well. And everyone loves a good competitive game of cornhole!
Now that summer is almost here, odds are you'll want to organize some fun events to bring your crowd together. Use these tips in order to throw a fun party that everyone will enjoy.
